Dr. Williams is a native of Eufaula, Alabama, and a graduate of Eufaula High School. He received the B.S. Degree with double majors in Journalism and Social and Rehabilitation Services from Troy State University and the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry degrees from New Orleans Theological Seminary. In addition, he received the Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
Prior to entering the ministry, Bob was an accountant and Assistant Treasurer for American Buildings Company, a major manufacturer of pre-engineered steel buildings, headquartered in Eufaula, Alabama.
He was ordained to the ministry in 1975 and has served as pastor of churches in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and for the last 17 years in Georgia. His most recent appointment was the Dawson United Methodist Church. He also served as pastor of the McRae United Methodist Church in McRae, and the Piney Mount and Davisboro churches in the Dublin District.
He is married to the former Kathy Janes of Milledgeville. Kathy is a graduate of Baldwin County High School. She attended Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and has worked as a paraprofessional in the kindergarten and Pre-K programs in the Baldwin, Telfair, Sumter and Terrell County School systems. They have two children and two grandchildren who live in Tennessee.
